Surfboard is a neat little service that displays any website or blog in a flippable newspaper-like display. To use Surfboard all you have to do is enter the url of your favorite website and click "get surfing." That site will then be displayed in a manner that allows you to flip through the site's content without seeing the sidebar widgets and or advertisements. It is sort of like Flipboard for an individual site.
For proper flippable display Surfboard requires the use of the latest versions of Chrome or Safari. Publishers who want to give their readers a treat when they’re browsing with an iOS device should add the JavaScript snippet.
It’s incredibly easy to install and once in place any iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch user will see your websites content in the Surfboard format — designed for their device, screen, and unique gesture controls.
Applications for Education
Surfboard was developed for use on tablet devices to make the content of websites easier to view on smaller screens. If your school is one that is starting to use tablet devices in your classrooms, Surfboard may be a service you'll want to check out. It works just as well on desktop computers.
