Grade 6 Student Explains How He Makes Apps

This is a great TEDxVideo of Thomas Suarez, a Grade 6 student explaining how he goes about developing Apps for iPhone, iPod and iPad. This is a great model for educators to create App developers in their own schools. Content creators as opposed to content consumers is a question we continue to ask ourselves. As Thomas says "sometimes students know more than teachers...with the technology......."

This kid is obviously a special student with a passion for programming but it would not be impossible to emulate this situation.

Here is a further article from the Manhattan Beach Unified School District explaining their decision for the iPad Pilot Program.

  1. LOVE, love, love this video! Thanks for sharing!

  2. GREAT video! This is what I am trying to build with my girls @BlackGirlsCode. I am sure we will get there. Give us another 6-12 months :)

  3. This kid is awesome! I can visualize my students as him in the future even they are just using the Ghostwriter Notes app they bought at

This note-taking app is a very powerful tool in educating the students!
